trees die standing tall

A few years ago a natural basin in the woods, right by the road, was flooded, creating a pond. Submerged roots of the trees, without the access to the air, started to die. Gradually this part of the woods transformed into quite a spooky looking place with bare trunks of dead trees emerging from the water.
I've been wanting to go there for photos for a few years now and today somehow I stole an hour of this early spring day and off I went.
Peculiar charm.
